Terms and Conditions on Data Protection

ibc21 cares seriously for your privacy. Please read the following statements to learn more about our privacy policy. In the statement below, ibc21 would like to inform you about how ibc21 treats your personal data following the data security policies.

These terms and conditions supplement ibc21's Terms and Conditions on the use of the ibc21-Websites


1.Subject Matter

This policy covers how ibc21 treats personal information that ibc21 collects and receives, if you use our services offered under the URLs www.ibc21.com, www.ibc21.de, www.ibc21.biz.

ibc21 strictly adheres to the following basic principles in the protection of your Personal Data

  •  ibc21 offers all services free of charge. Subsequently ibc21 will offer to registered users two alternatives of use:
  • "ibc21 shall collect, process and use your Personal Data in accordance with the laws and statutes on data protection of the Federal Republic of Germany and     these of the so called "Teledienste-Datenschutzgesetz". Whenever ibc21 makes use of your personal data for a purpose that according to these regulations      requires your approval, ibc21 will request your approval.
  • "ibc21 will use your Personal Data solely to provide the ibc21-Services of ibc21 on the Internet for which you have registered yourself. In no event will ibc21     pass your Personal Data on to any third party, neither for advertising, marketing nor for any other purposes. ibc21 may pass your personal data to     prosecution authorities or courts in accordance with condition of the applicable laws for the purpose of the prosecution, if these authorities explicitly demand      for it.
  • "You decide which of the personal data entered by you can be seen by other ibc21-Members through your privacy settings.


  • 2. Personal Data

    2.1 Registration Data

    For the successful operation of its Services, ibc21 needs to collect and process certain of your Personal Data in the course of the registration process. In a first instance this consists of the following data:

  • Nickname (login)
  • First Name
  • Family Name
  • Password
  • Date of Birth
  • Private E-Mail Address (for correspondence)
  • In no event will ibc21 disclose or pass on this information to any third party. ibc21 will never request the password from the user, except during the login procedure.

    Further, as an individual user user within the course of the confirmation of the registration process the following Data fields are mandatory to be filled

    Business Information

  • What you seek (available options are: Business Contacts, Projects,Job or others)
  • What you require
  • What you offer
  • As a company, the company representative needs to fill out the following data in the course of the registration process as mandatory fields:

  • Login Name
  • Company
  • Password
  • E-Mail Address (for correspondence)
  • Subscription type
  • Further, as company, the company representative needs to fill out the following Data within the confirmation step of the registration process as mandatory fields:

  • Address (Street, House No., Postal Code, Country and State)
  • Private Telephone No
  • Languages you speak

  • By default, these fields are set to be visible by all ibc21 users. By changing the privacy setting of these fields, you decide if you wish to allow other ibc21 Users to see these fields or not.

    Furthermore, in case of a contact request, you may choose in each individual case if the data shall be displayed to any other particular ibc21 Users.

    2.2 Voluntary Data

    If you wish, you may provide additional information about yourself on a voluntary basis aside from the mandatory data. This is to allow other ibc21 Users to better get to know you, so they can possibly choose you as a qualified business contact.

    By default, all voluntary fields are set to be visible by all ibc21 Users. By changing the privacy setting of these fields, you decide if you wish to allow the other ibc21 Users to see these fields or not.

    Furthermore, in the case of a contact request, you may choose in each individual case if the data shall be displayed to a specific other ibc21 user.

    2.3 Your Contact Site, Contact Management

    Your personal data appears on your contact site under �Personal Info�. By default, all fields are set to be visible by all ibc21users. By changing the privacy setting of these fields, you decide if you wish to allow the other ibc21 Users to see these fields or not. Furthermore, in case of a contact request, you may choose in each individual case if the data shall be displayed to a specific other ibc21 user. Your personal information includes following details, as far as you have entered these:

  • Academic Title
  • Academic Qualification

  • By default, all fields are set to be visible by all ibc21 Users. By changing the privacy setting of these fields, you decide if you wish to allow other ibc21 Users to see these fields or not. Furthermore, in case of a contact request, you may choose in each individual case if the data shall be displayed to a specific other ibc21 user.

    If you contact ibc21 Users with a request for personal contact, such ibc21 Users are stored on your Contact Site in a contact list. In the event an ibc21 user confirms your request for contact, this ibc21 user shall be counted for you as a so called "confirmed contact". Confirmed and unconfirmed contacts shall be registered separately. When you have set the appropriate privacy for this field to allow other ibc21 Users to view your list of confirmed contacts, this list will be visible for other ibc21 Users

    Furthermore, you decide through your privacy setting if your name should appear on the list of confirmed contacts of your contacts

    On your contact site you find the following statistics which are visible to you only:

  • Number of hits of your contact site
  • Number of your confirmed contacts
  • Number of unconfirmed contacts
  • Number of unread messages
  • Number of your online contacts
  • Number of online ibc21 Users
  • Number of your invitations
  • Premium registrants through your invitations
  • Non-Premium registrants through your invitations
  • Number of RFX responses
  • Number of Thread replies
  • Day, month and year of your membership
  • Type of your membership
  • Your last login to ibc21
  • ibc21 has provided a guest book on your Contact Site to invite other ibc21 Users to write into the guest book, if they wish to do so. Entries into the guest book are visible to all other ibc21 Users.

    Your Privacy Settings

    ibc21 takes your privacy seriously and enables you to protect your privacy on an optimal level. As you can see, ibc21 provides you with a unique set of features to do so:

    4. Communication: Mails, short Messaging, Chat, Forums

    ibc21 offers various types of communication options to enable its members to communicate

    The ibc21 Mail-system enables you to send internal mails to other ibc21-Members (receiver address is the Nickname), it enables you also to send mails to any external addresses. Only internal mails will be received by your ibc21-Account. The Mail-System includes also an address book. With your address book, you can mark your contacts as private contacts or business contacts. Furthermore, you can categorize your contacts based on their importance.

    b. Short Messaging

    Your confirmed ibc21 contacts may send you private short messages. ibc21 has preset the settings to your privacy under "My privacy" per default so that all your confirmed contacts may send short messages to you.

    You may restrict the authority of the confirmed contacts to send short messages to you at any time to the effect that either none of the your confirmed contacts or that only certain selected confirmed contacts are allowed to send private messages to you

    c.Chat

    On the ibc21-Websites, ibc21 offers a Chat-Server.

    ibc21 offers this kind of direct communication to enable two ibc21-Users or several ibc21-Users to discuss in real time in pre-defined chat rooms. These pre-defined chat rooms are topic related and also public. This means that the content of the discussion in these rooms will be visible for others who currently reside in these chat rooms. You can change the public chat room and enter a private one if you wish to have a person to person discussion.

    Whenever your confirmed contacts are online, you will be able to invite each for a private chat, if their privacy setting is set to accept private chat invitations from you.

    You may restrict the authority of the confirmed contacts to invite you for a private chat at any time to the effect that either none of the your confirmed contacts or that only certain selected confirmed contacts are allowed to invite you for a private chat.

    d. Forums

    On the ibc21-Websites, ibc21 offers certain forums

    ibc21 offers this kind of communication Each forum has one (1) or more moderator(s). The moderator decides for each forum whether the forum is public or whether it is only accessible to a specific person subgroup, as well as who has read and/or write access for each relevant forum. This information will be displayed on the ibc21-Websites for the relevant forum. It is visible to the defined subgroup and it may also be visible to other users of ibc21, dependent on the specifications done by the moderator.

    e. Appointments, Activities, Event Management

    On the ibc21-Websites, ibc21 offers you the possibility to enter your appointments, activities and events as well as similar services. With this function you may manage and coordinate your events with other ibc21-Users and/or with non-members of ibc21, as well as you may invite other ibc21-Users and/or non-members to specific events

    Each event has one (1) or more hosts (organizers). The host decides for each event if and which information about the event is visible to other ibc21-Users and/or for non-members of ibc21. Besides other information this may include whether the event is reserved to ibc21 Users or whether it is a public event and as such accessible to non-members, whether the number of participants is limited, whether the guest list is visible without any restrictions or if and which restrictions to the visibility of the guest list may apply. The above information shall be displayed on the ibc21-Websites for the relevant event. It is visible to ibc21-Users, and it may also be visible to non-members, dependent on the specifications by the host.

    5. Invitations to ibc21

    As a user of ibc21 you may invite other persons or companies to membership with ibc21. ibc21 shall process the personal data collected in the course of the invitation solely for the invitation and ibc21 shall not use it for any other purpose.

    6. �Visitor path�

    �Visitor path� is a function of the ibc21-Services which registers access to Contact Sites of ibc21 Users by other ibc21 Users. The information registered by �Visitor path� is available to all Users (premium members and non-premium members) of ibc21.

    By using �Visitor path� you can determine who and when (last access with date and time stamp) an ibc21-User has visited your contact site. Of course, all other ibc21 Users may also do so, i.e. they can determine whether you have visited their contact site and when. This feature is an essential element to contact management with ibc21 and as such an essential element of the ibc21-Services overall: You may not deactivate this feature in the settings to your privacy. If you do not agree that other ibc21 Users may determine whether you have visited their Contact Site, you should not use the ibc21-Services.

    7. Search Functions

    The ibc21-Services offer various possibilities for the search of specific other ibc21-Users, including an extended search function and search agents.

    These search functions are:

  • Member search (by personal or business information)
  • Company search
  • Project search
  • Vacancy search
  • Forum search
  • Event search
  • RFI-RFP-RFQ search
  • Article search


  • 8. Weekly Status-Report

    ibc21 regularly sends out a weekly status report to ibc21-Members, if they wish and agreed to receive this status report by activating the receipt option under �Notifications�. In this report ibc21 may inform you, amongst other things, about new features at ibc21. ibc21 may also provide you with specific personal statistics from the respective past calendar week (i.e. the number of hits of your Contact Site, whether you have new contacts to be confirmed and/or new private messages, etc.).

    Further, the status report may include some links to current topics or sites.

    9. Cookies

    After you have logged in to the ibc21-Services with your user nickname and password, ibc21 uses cookies in order to identify you during the course of your session. One cookie will be stored on your computer. Upon termination of your session with ibc21 the cookie will be automatically deleted. You may maintain this cookie on your computer for an automatic login to subsequent sessions by activating the function: "Login automatically on this computer". Any so maintained cookie contains part of your login data in encrypted format.

    10. Log Files

    Every time you demand access to a website of the ibc21-Websites, ibc21 shall save the following data in a log file (the so called "server log"):

  • Your IP address (through which your computer may be clearly identified),
  • The name and IP address of the computer which demands the relevant page of      the ibc21-Websites
  • The time, status, and amount of the transferred data, as well as the Internet      website from which you have reached the demanded page of the
         ibc21-Websites (the so called "referrer")
  • The product and release information of your Internet browser (the so called     "user agent").
  • This log file will be stored by ibc21 in anonymous format without reference to your person for statistical purposes only. In doing so, ibc21 may analyze on which days and at which time the ibc21-Services are particularly frequented and how much data volume is created on the ibc21-Websites. Further, by using the log file, ibc21 can identify certain defects of the ibc21-Websites, such as defective hyperlinks or program defects, and thus continuously improve the quality of the ibc21-Websites. ibc21 does not attribute the website demands stored in the log file to the person of specific users. However, ibc21 reserves the right to review the log files via the last known IP address with respect to ibc21-Users of whom ibc21 has reasonable cause to believe that a member uses the ibc21-Services in breach of the contractual agreements or applicable law. By doing so, ibc21 protects the other ibc21-Users, the ibc21-Websites and the ibc21-Services as well as the safety of the data of the ibc21-Users.

    11. Changes to these Terms and Conditions on Data Protection

    ibc21 reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions on Data Protection, in the event this is necessary due to gaps of these Terms and Conditions on Data Protection identified only after their release, or in the event this is necessary with respect to additional or amended services provided by ibc21. ibc21 will notify you about any changes of these Terms and Conditions on Data Protection. All ibc21 notifications will be submitted by the administrator and will be posted in the start page under Message form ibc21 and additionally will appear in the weekly status report which will be sent by E-mail to the ibc21 user. The ibc21 User is obliged to enable at least one of the above notification settings under My settings/Notifications.

    12. Accessibility of these Terms and Conditions on Data Protection

    These Terms and Conditions on Data Protection are accessible from any website of the ibc21-Websites under the link Privacy Statement.
